About Us

We’re on a mission to support UK homeowners to dramatically cut their home carbon emissions and energy bills by switching to renewable home heating systems! With over 15 years of experience in the energy sector, as well as being an Ofgem approved investor, we are proud to be one of the UK’s leading renewable energy consultancies.

At Evergreen Energy we use smart technology to help our customers dramatically cut their carbon emissions and reduce their energy bills! We believe that making our homes more energy efficient and using renewable technology to heat and power them will play a big part in achieving a sustainable future.

It really is a great time to be part of the renewable energy sector – join us in making a difference.

Your Role

We're looking for someone who to join our Evergreen Energy team and work collaboratively to build products and tools to help our customers access green technologies for their homes and for installers to better serve their customers. Working across the entire Software Development Lifecycle you'll be able to own solving problems, all the way from idea to production. The work is extremely varied, covering Front end, Backend, database and cloud technologies - but we're not looking for someone who knows everything already, we want someone who's willing jump in, learn new things and to develop their skills.

You'll be maintaining a range of products, both new and old. Our Installer Toolkit is built using a modern stack using NodeJS and React. But we also maintain a wide variety of systems and the team shares responsibility of this. We don't expect someone to come in knowing all the technologies we use, but we're looking for someone happy to use and learn whatever technologies they need to do to help us better serve our customers.

Quality is a big part of what we do, so ideally, you'll have experience with Test Driven Development, but definitely you'll be confident in writing tests of various levels and the use of code quality tools to ensure we're building maintainable code that works. We also care deeply about how our products work in production as well, including owning our own build and deployment pipelines and monitoring our products in production.

We're a small, agile team - which owns all parts of the process, so as well as writing, testing and deploying code, you'll also be helping to write requirements, solve problems and design architecture. There's a big opportunity to join and help influence the direction both the team and the systems take - whilst solving real problems for our users. You'll also be working directly with people from across the business to help discover requirements and ensure we're building the right things to solve problems for our users

As the team grows we're starting to put in place more agile ways of working, you'll have the opportunity to help shape these processes and as a team have will autonomy over how you approach work. Across all Evergreen Energy teams we have a culture of embracing XP values, learning and continuous improvement, and we're excited to find other like minded individuals who want to share in delivering our mission.
